Serious Garage Sale treasure hunters hit neighborhood garage sales before single family sales because they can shop the most merchandise in a single stop. This not only saves time and gas money, but also improves your odds of finding what you want. Naturally there's competition between the individual sales, so the deals at neighborhood garage sales tend to be better, too.

Case in point...

"Three Neighborhood Garage Sales Near Me"

When Ethan heard that three different subdivisions near his home were all hosting neighborhood garage sales on the same day, he was up for the challenge.

His strategy?

Instead of taking time to painstakingly search for specific items on his list, Ethan decided to look for big bargains at as many garage sales as he could.

He told garage sale forum members at Treasurenet.com that he arrived early at the first garage sale on his list —not early bird early, but at 8 am sharp— then quickly, yet carefully, combed through more garage sales than he could count.

Three hours later, after the dust settled, Ethan walked away with seven pretty sweet picks that, by my estimation, are easily worth ten to twenty times more than what he paid for them.

I know this because I searched eBay for recently completed listings that show what other people have paid for the same items. If I couldn't find a comparable item that sold at auction, I estimated its value at roughly 10-20% of the current retail price, depending on the item's condition.
