Any time you buy used toys or other battery operated devices at a Garage Sale, there's a chance you'll come across corroded battery terminals which can be dangerous to handle.
GARAGE SALE SHOPPING TIP: Check for corrosion from leaky batteries before you buy any battery operated device - especially toys.
Leaving batteries in electronics too long can cause them to leak acid or alkaline, which can corrode the contact points (battery terminals) in the battery compartment and possibly ruin the device. Battery acid can also damage anything it comes into contact with (including you and your kids!) so proper handling and cleaning of battery operated devices (like toys) and battery chargers where batteries have corroded is a MUST.
