The Large Print Giveth. The Small Print Taketh Away
When I first saw this tongue-in-cheek garage sale ad I was afraid 10-year-old girls eager to meet their idol would turn out in droves for this sale, only to be bitterly disappointed when Katy Perry didn't show.
On the bright side, I thought, the little Katy Perry fans would learn a valuable lesson about the importance of reading fine print and the Garage Sale would likely sell out of scrunchies.
But, that wasn't the case.
THE TRUTH
The Meet Katy Perry ad was actually a big hit on social media.
"People thought it was pretty hilarious," the ad's creator, Tweak06, told Reddit users. He also said more people came to his garage sale as a result.
"We had a great turnout," Tweak said. "We even had a local lady named Kathy Perry show up and sign a guy's shirt. It was a lot of fun."
THE RUMOR
Rumor has it the garage sale host still suffered some backlash, however.
Unconfirmed reports claim that an angry Katy Perry Super-Fan left a hear-me-roar message in sidewalk chalk on his driveway that read:
"Liar! Liar! Pants on fire! P.S. Please tell Katy Perry I love her"
(Katy Perry was unavailable for comment.)
